I think it's time the Z got a little backup from the dumba$$e$ that think only a 70's muscle car can run a dragrace. Only because their cars are so old, they've been rebuilt many times and bored out so they have to be able to go fast by now right? If you think the Z isn't made for some impressive straight line acceleration, you're an IDIOT. What's more impressive about it, is it can also turn and is comfortable to drive. It is more of a player at highway acceleration, but can hold it's own from a stop. Don't be ignorant. If we looked at it as you do, the Z would be good for nothing since you look at one thing. I could say:1) The Z sux for drag racing. Get a Mustang, bore, supercharge and NOS it to smoke a Z. 2) The Z sux for handeling. Get a Miata, upgrade the suspension and brakes to run circles around the Z even more than it did stock. 3) The Z sux for comfort. Get an SUV and go across country more roomy and comfortable. 4) The Z sux for dependability. Get a Honda and have it floored everywhere you go and still get 200K+ out of the motor in stock form. 5) The Z sux for gas mileage. Get a moped and get 8 times the MPG. Where does it end? Can we reason here? The beauty of the Z is it does decent in any of these catagories as a whole. Any dork that says "The Z isn't made to drag race" or "The Z is too heavy to autocross" are ignorant as hell. Let's go visit every network and tell the programmers they aren't smart enough to really be a programmer. They don't know as much as Bill Gates or haven't designed a world wide millions used website or program. Let's go to every city ball court and break up the game to tell the guys they're really not good enough to be playing basketball. They weren't really MADE to play basketball or they'd be in the NBA. Of course we'll laugh at them for even ATTEMPTING to play because they look foolish. What about all those idiot golfers that aren't on the PGA tour? WHY DO THEY STILL PLAY? Let's go bomb the Special Olympics, besides, how can a retard be good at anything physical right? People do what they want, most of the time for fun. Different things are fun to different people and they don't have to be PRO to get respect. You don't think a Z can drag race? Well, let me tell you a TRUE story from 2 days ago that happened to me: Everyone knows with my messed up tranny, I put down 2 12.7 2 weeks ago here in Hallsville, Tx with the boost at sub 16 PSI. This place is the land of the muscle car. I had big groups checking out my car and commenting to me how fast it was. The guy giving time slips said on my 2nd run QUOTE: "That car is fast as SHIT!". SO, that's cool and all... but I'm walking out of work 2 days ago into the parking lot. I walk by a late 80's 5.0 Mustang, the window is down and the guy is looking at me. The car is primed with a huge hood scoop, fat back tires and sounded great. I stopped and said.... "you have a pretty quick car there do you?" He smiled and said "yeah, kinda, but that black Z in the back of the lot is fast as F*&^%" THAT IS WHAT HE SAID. I was a loss for words, I was suprised he even knew it was mine. I said, "I take it you were at the track the other day". He said "yep, and that car is so F*&^ing fast... I saw you and your GF racing it and the silver one was there too". He said he was wanting to talk to me, but there was a lot of guys around me asking questions at the track. I still can't believeve that.. but ever since I raced here, people honk, wave, and ask me if I raced because they heard about a black Z out there that was pretty sweet and quick as hell. I'm not BS-ing at all about it. This was for a couple mid-to high 12 runs, few bolt ons and low boost. Now, any fool that thinks a Z can't easily get respect at the strip I say again... is ignorant. Don't listen to what you hear about on the internet of how this type of car can run *THIS* fast. You're hearing BS'rs and really good drivers time with very well tuned cars on a lucky day. Go to the track and see for yourself. See what most Mustangs and F-bodies are running. I'm not talking about going to the NHRA National Finals where everything is crated in. I'm talking about a real race event with the locals that work on their cars and like to race. You'll see that a 12 second 1/4 is a very respectable 1/4 mile time from any street car that can still turn around at the end of the track. Especially one designed in the late 80's that does it from increasing the airflow and turning up the boost (just a few bolt ons). So, you still think the Z wasn't made to be able to hold it's own at the strip? Well, then I have a pair here you might think you can swallow, but you'll end up choking on fool. Maybe you weren't even made to drive so should give it up cause I can out drive you?
